Decision Analysis

Each student is required to submit a detailed written analysis on case Rational vs Intuitive
Decision Making: Dilemma at Nemesis (Reference no. 409-085-1).

This is a written case analysis and synthesis and 100% of the assignment overall grade is allocated to the written
report.

Case Assignment Questions:
1. Critically evaluate rational versus intuitive decision making. Use Rahul and Ignatius
as examples for your evaluation.
2. Identify the different decision biases that the managers in Nemesis were suffering
from and their influence on their decisions. What strategies would you suggest
counteracting these biases?
3. Based on your work experience, which decision-making approach suits you? Why?
Use a detailed example that can illustrate your answer.
4. Discuss if there is any relationship between the nature of the industry/company and
the decision-making style.

Guidelines for the written assignment:
The report should contain approximately 2000 words (+/- 10%). The word count is from the start of the Introduction to the end of the Conclusions sections and does not include the cover page, references, and potential appendices.

The required format for the layout of the report is as follows:

1) Introduction to the case report
Briefly give an introduction to the report.
Briefly outline your plan to analyze the case project

2) Critical analysis of the case and development of recommendations
Using the theory and frameworks in the module topics and other sources, analyze the case and address the questions as above (i.e. do not re-write details from the case but use your knowledge and skills as well as tools and techniques to provide a critical assessment of the case situation).
You should not spend too many words describing the case data as such or the theory you use (referencing it is sufficient and critical), but devote most of the effort to applying the theory to the information you have obtained about the case to make informed and justified conclusions from and recommendations based on the case.
