Describe a recent problem you encountered and explain the problem-solving approach you chose to apply.

Option #1: Describe a recent problem you encountered and explain the problem-solving approach you chose to apply. Did your approach result in a successful outcome? In retrospect, would another approach have been better or easier to get to an optimal solution?

Option #2: Difficulties frequently occur at the start of the problem-solving process, during the diagnosis stage, when a person or group forms and then tests hypotheses about a problem. Typically, if there are more than two or three hypotheses, it becomes difficult to keep them all straight, and this may lead people to choose the one which first comes to mind or seems to most likely fit the circumstances. Since that hypothesis has a higher chance of being wrong, describe/explain the mental sets which need to be evaluated, confirmation biases which may need to be addressed, and how influences based on expectation of outcomes may be avoided.
