Please answer these three discussion board posts (each post may contain a series of two to three questions) The goal of the comments is to demonstrate you have engaged the readings by providing a thoughtful answer. Make sure to include support and examples from the readings with proper APA citations after each post.
Each discussion post should be written in paragraph form and two or three paragraphs in length. I expect strong writing skills and excellent development in your postings. Researched information needs to state a source and please don’t forget to spell and grammar check your document.
1. Speaking appropriately is important and often depends upon the communication setting. What guidelines would you suggest for a retail business setting? For meeting, someone at a party or concert? For running into a friend, you have not seen in a while at a coffee shop.
2. In your own words, explain the statement “meanings rest more in people than in words.” Cite examples from your own experience and give support from the readings.
3. Nonverbal behaviors are ambiguous and understood culturally. Either (1) Describe a story where your nonverbal behaviors violated a cultural custom. Or, (2) identify three nonverbal behaviors customary/accepted where you live, and how these could violate a custom in another region of the U.S. or internationally. If you are using the second option, please read through the discussion board first so that examples do not overlap.
