Describe and justify how your strategy would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.

Description
Objective: To develop a strategy for technology use in documenting dramatic play and to evaluate your strategy. Scenario: You are a new teacher in a first-grade classroom. Your center has six new digital cameras and two new iPads, and each class has just been given a website. You decide to explore the new technology tools to observe and document students in your class during dramatic play. You sit down to create an observation strategy, considering what technology is best suited to observing dramatic play and what type of family consent you’ll need to obtain before you begin. During the first family meeting of the year, you discuss your plan with the families to understand their thoughts and concerns. Some are a little wary at first, but agree once you discuss with them the purpose and benefits. One parent even suggests sharing photos and videos on the class website; the other families become excited and agree. Focus Assignment 1. Develop an observation strategy for how you will use technology to document dramatic play in your classroom. Your strategy should include consideration of which type(s) of technology will be best suited to observing dramatic play and what type of consent you’ll need before you can begin. Your strategy should also include how you will share your classroom activities on the website, including what safety and privacy precautions you will take. 2. Be sure to read the SELF-EVALUATION section below to guide your thinking. Write your self-evaluation after you have completed your strategy. 3. Review the assessment rubric to see how your assignment and self-evaluation will be graded. Self-Evaluation 1. For each element of your strategy: a. Explain how this element addresses the issues in the scenario. b. Give evidence from the chapter supporting this element (with citations). 2. Describe and justify how your strategy would improve teaching and learning in the scenario.
