This is an individual assessment and requires students to produce a professional portfolio capturing the nature of current and future trends within the hospitality industry. The portfolio should contain articles from the news, from professional magazines and research papers and documents that are issued for structured lecture sessions.

The analysis of your portfolio will be presented and submitted in the form of a ‘Hospitality Newsletter’ in 2000 words (+/- 10%). This newsletter will be aimed at professionals within the hospitality industry and will discuss and analyse current relevant issues.

Assessment Criteria:

• The Newsletter should include 5 topics which are Check-in Technology Trends, Economic Trends, Global Risk in the Hospitality Industry, Globalization and Culture, and Sustainability.

• Use references to support your views and your thought process. Minimum 4 articles for each topic. Add your reference list at the end of the newsletter (Harvard style).

• Using your portfolio, you should produce a professional newsletter focusing on 5 trends and analyze their impact in the hospitality industry.

• Make sure the newsletter is creative, informative, engage the reader and has an appropriate design and layout. Use headlines to separate the areas of discussion.

• Students must present their arguments in a cohesive and organized way that demonstrates a logic construction between current/future trends and opportunities, threats and impacts that arise for the global hospitality and the society.

• Students are required to demonstrate a critical thinker ability. Don’t describe but explain, provide reasoning, justification, use evidence from the module and your own research.
