Overview
School counselors have an ethical responsibility to meet diverse student needs and should be knowledgeable of multicultural issues to ensure students and families have access to culturally appropriate interventions including transition programs. For this assignment, you will create a presentation in PowerPoint with speaker notes (on each slide).

You are school counselor at high school in a large city with very diverse student population (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, culture, religion/beliefs, etc.); 72 % of students are economically disadvantaged. In this presentation, you will be giving school staff and parents information on a transition plan you have created for your high school students to address recent data that only 30% of students in your school seek postsecondary opportunities (apprentriceships, job training, college admissions, military). You will include information on their role in this program as well.

In this presentation (addressed to your audience of school staff and parents) you will demonstrate the ability to design, implement, manage, and evaluate a transition program that addresses the goal of increasing the number of students engaged in formal postsecondary participation (including college, trade schools, job training, apprenticeships, formal school-to-work programs, etc). You will describe in the presentation how you have addressed the ASCA National Model components (ASCA, 2019), the ASCA Student Standards (ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success: K-12 College- and Career Readiness for Every Student; ASCA, 2019) within your transition planning program. This presentation will also address the following:

• The Vernon & Schimmel (2019) textbook, the Kimbel & Schellenberg article on “meeting holistic needs,” information from CASEL’s SEL Framework, other course readings, and a minimum of 2 additional peer-reviewed articles must be used in order to develop the presentation (5 total);
• Information must clearly align with the ASCA National Model (ASCA, 2019) and include description of specific ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors (ASCA, 2019), or student competencies, your program will include;
• Detailed speaker notes must be included on each slide of the presentation in the notes section (seek assistance from Liberty University’s technology department or use an online tutorial if you do not know how to add speaker notes to PowerPoint slides);
• Citations (on slides and in speaker notes) and a references slide in current APA format must be included (make sure to use more that one slide if print is too small for one); and
• Informative and visually appealing content must be included.
