1. Describe how the War on Drugs has impacted female offenders in comparison to male offenders. Why do you believe that these gendered differences exist?
2. Based on what you have learned this semester, why do women use drugs in the first place? What two criminological theories may explain this phenomenon? Explain your reasoning and theoretical connections.
3. Considering that the War on Drugs has ultimately failed as we still have high rates of substance use and misuse in the United States, what should the United States do regarding substance use? Provide two policy recommendations that would seek to decrease rates of substance use in the United States (support with scholarly sources if possible).
