Definitions:

Labour process theory: Explains the process of deskilling work and managerial strategies to maintain control over workers and work processes.

Labour market segmentation: The tendency in the labour market for work to be divided along gender lines, with women occupying specific sectors and occupations—service/ health services/ nursing; while men tend to occupy others—resource extraction and manufacturing/factory work. This segmentation is then reflected in other differences in wage rates, unionization, occupational
prestige, and so forth.
