Imagine that you have just been given ownership of your own restaurant here in Las Vegas—or, more accurately, the building and money to create one of your own. In this assignment, you will be required to describe the restaurant that you would develop: its decor, its food, its theme (if it has one), what separates it from similar establishments, etc. This must all be accomplished in a clear, interesting, and mechanically-accurate fashion.
Your text should consist of a series of substantial paragraphs, including an introduction and a conclusion. Each paragraph should focus on and provide details about a single aspect of your restaurant; and you must make sure to keep those paragraphs cohesive, unified, and well-developed. If necessary, feel free to go beyond a single paragraph for any of the following subtopics.
Your essay must describe each of the following elements of your restaurant, though you are free to add details on other aspects that you believe are important. You may describe these elements in any order you wish.
#1: Describe in detail the inside décor and atmosphere of your restaurant, making sure to use specific details and engaging language. Remember, you want to help readers experience this place, not just list one mundane fact after another.
#2: Describe three of the signature dishes you will serve as the restaurant, making sure to appeal to readers senses (beyond just sight) while using interesting verbs and adjectives. Try to strike a good balance between being details and engaging while also keeping your text efficient and well-paced.
#3: Describe a single television commercial that you will use to advertise your restaurant. While there is no need to provide every piece of dialog the actors will say, do offer readers a strong idea of what will take place in the commercial, what kinds of images it will focus on, and why you believe this will prove so effective.
#4: Describe the restaurant’s management style and employee policies: What kind of experience will you require of your staff, servers, and cooks/chefs? What training will you provide? How will you ensure that your employees are fulfilling their duties and performing well?
#5: Describe at least one other feature that make this restaurant so appealing that go beyond food. Will you offer a playground for kids, live music, costumed characters, etc.? This is your chance to show readers what makes your restaurant stand out from others serving similar menus.
