Describe narrative (story) that Carte Figurative tells using graphical elements.

1.Emerging markets (or Newly Industrialized Economies) are characterized by high (yet unstable) growth and large proportion of poor population. If a large foreign (consumer goods) corporation would like to develop products (offerings) for poor customers in the emerging markets, how it should change its marketing mix?
2. In 1869 Charles Joseph Minard, retired French Inspector General of Bridges and Roads draw an infographic titled “Carte Figurative des pertes succesives en hommes de l’Armée Française dans la campagne de Russie 1812-1813” (Figurative Map of the successive losses in men of the French Army in the Russian campaign 1812-1813). It describes Napoleon’s Grand Armée’s march to Moscow in 1812 and retreat during winter 1813 (Figure 1 in the attached file). The infographic has two major parts:

a) Central visualization consisting of two connected graphs: one showing the Grande Armée’s march on Moscow (in red) and one showing the retreat (in black). Note: the width of red and black graphs represents size of the Grande Armée.

b) A table (Tableau Graphique) in the bottom part of map showing date, temperature, and weather conditions for selected data points of the winter retreat.

Describe narrative (story) that Carte Figurative tells using graphical elements. What relationships between (a) and (b) may be inferred from that infographics? (Figure 1)
