Question 1 (300 words): I have provided a pdf of a short article by Jim Robbins, “Wildlife Personalities Play a Role in Nature” (New York Times, March 5th, 2022). Please read the article, then explain how some of these findings might be interpreted using at least two of the terms that Eva Meijer employs in her discussion of animals’ political communication. These could include personhood, political participation, animal languages, “becoming-with” or being affected, forms of violence, animal resistance, anthropomorphism and anthropocentrism, or human exceptionalism.
Question 2 (200 words): Drawing on Davies, Hinchliffe, Pachirat, Kleinman and Suryanarayanan, and Van Dooren, explain two different points of connection between animal health and human public health. Please cite at least two of these authors. Why are the two connected, and why do policymakers, researchers, and various publics fail to recognize these connections?
Question 3 (100 words ): Describe one way that your understanding of the politics of human and animal relations has changed over the course of this quarter, and one concrete action that you will carry out as a result (this can be minor and might include inaction or changes in how you pay attention/think). For full credit, clearly articulate BOTH your previous understanding/position and your current one.
