(A code Blue defined me as a nurse . I walked in to deliver a medication to the other floor nurse and her patient was not breathing. The nurse was in shock and not responding to the patients crisis. I checked his breathing and pulse. I called a code blue and yelled for the crash cart. The patient was lowered to the ground where I began CPR. He was barrel chested due to COPD so the first few compressions broke all his ribs. I can still hear the sound in my head and it has been over 7 years. To overcome this case I have had to process it several times in my head. I have talked it over with other staff, and with co-workers at other jobs. To be able to get out my feelings and thoughts has helped the most.

Explain the importance of debriefings.
