The purpose of this part of the local government profile is to help locate your profile community within the distribution of local governments in the state. Use a memorandum format or style for this assignment. In your written profile please provide the following:
Provide a brief description of your local government and its (1) total population. (2) 20-40 year trend in total population (decennial or every ten years, not annual data) and (3) how the municipaliites total population size compares relative to other local governments of its type in the state (e.g. county, city, town or village). Use the EXCEL file provided for this purpose (Municipal Population Distribution – see below).
Describe the location of the local government with regard to its county and town (if it’s a village) and the general region of the state.
For towns, cities and villages – indicate the total population size of the county that the local government is in.
As you read the assigned chapters and articles for this week, write down 3-4 questions about the work and role of the local government manager/administrator and their work with the governing board or other questions that are prompted by the readings. Submit these numbered questions as a Word document in the dropbox for Assignment 3. If time and opportunity permits, you can use one or more of these in your future manager interview.
