Describe the similarities and differences in cultural expressions of monumentality, how their motivations vary and how they have been viewed by history, or in the current day.

Question one: we have seen multiple representations of women in different cultures, and in different media. Based on the first four lectures (and readings), what is your impression of how women are depicted? What is emphasized in the images, and what is not? Compare and contrast the examples and the context, considering similarities and differences.

Question two: Individual and collective achievements/fame have long been the subjects for
monuments. Think about the variety of monumental works we have considered so far from different cultures, and the purposes they serve. Describe the similarities and differences in cultural
expressions of monumentality, how their motivations vary and how they have been viewed by
history, or in the current day.
