Scenario: You are the HR manager of a large child and youth care center. The center provides services to children ages 1 year–12 years old. The chief executive officer (CEO) has asked you to prepare a 2-page memo addressing how to conduct comprehensive background checks on employees hired to work with children and youth at the center.

Describe the types of background checks you recommend the employer use during the hiring process.

Describe the potential legal pitfalls that can occur with each type of background check.
Explain how you will determine if someone is legally able to work in the United States (U.S.).
