statements/questions below and the Powerpoint (slides 7-14) to assist
you in creating your analysis for the scenarios.
1. State the problem.
2. Describe the values and point of view of the man who killed his
wife. Do you believe the husband was guilty of murder? Should he serve
jail time?
3. Describe the values and point of view of the wife.
4. Describe the legal and communications issues in this scenario.
5. If you were a medical doctor, what would you recommend the husband to do and state your reasoning.
6. Assisted suicide is only legal in 9 states and in the District of
Columbia (D.C.). Do you believe the laws should change to allow assisted
suicide? Why or why not? (Use slide 13 to help you with this)

4. Do you believe there are ethical issues within this scenario? Why or why not? Provide reasoning.
5. If you were the governor and was able to grant clemency to Doris
after she was arrested, would you or would you not grant it? (Clemency is the process by which a governor, president, or administrative board may reduce a defendant’s sentence or grant a pardon. A pardon
is a government decision to allow a person to be relieved of some or
all of the legal consequences resulting from a criminal conviction.)
