topic : divorce and romantics – more specifically My group is focused on divorce and romantics, together we decided to focus on the topic how cheating and hookup culture directly correlates to divorce. As well as, how it affect the views of a romantic. We chose this topic because in today’s society everyone talks about how cheating has become so normal and common, but not everyone talks about how severely that kind of culture can affect a marriage or how romantics view this “social norm.” I personally look forward to doing more research and getting a in depth knowledge on this interesting topic.
Using the material we have covered in the class and doing your own research on positive psychology, you will design an intervention to target an area that may benefit from a positive psychology intervention such as active-constructive communication to reduce the high divorce rate or mindfulness meditation at work to improve job dissatisfaction. Describe this topic or issue and justify why you think research on a particular aspect of positive psychology (e.g., flourishing, creativity, flow, happiness, etc.) may be able to improve in this area. Design a research program to investigate the issue and propose an intervention in which people can be taught how to apply some of the positive psychology research findings to use positive psychology in their lives. Hypothesize how the treatment/intervention would affect not only the proposed aspect of positive psychology but also how it would help him or her solve whatever the specific problem or issue is. I expect a very detailed intervention plan which includes enough information for the program to be implemented – if you are proposing a journal activity, show the writing prompts or if you are proposing guided mediation, make a video of it! The more detail you provide, the easier it will be to visualize the final intervention.
A wiki is an information webpage – although much of this project is similar to a written APA-style paper (in that I expect scientific sources), you also need to make it visually appealing and interesting. As this will fulfill both the written research report and oral requirements in the course, all students are required to participate in both the written portion and to post a video to the wiki page. Although this project will follow the style of a wiki page, it is not truly one where you are expected to publish on Wikipedia. The wiki page should include the following sections:
Introduction/Literature review: Develop a literature review of how the aspect of positive psychology relates to the topic you are studying and what you propose to do about it. You should start with an overview of the topic (i.e., Self-efficacy is _____. It can be enhanced by ____.) and talk about why the topic is important for a particular population/problem area (i.e., Studies have found low-self efficacy to be associated with increased incidences of dropping out of high school.).
The Intervention: This section should include specific information on the intervention you plan to use and which population you will be working with (i.e., Students identified as “at-risk” will participate in an intervention to enhance self-efficacy which includes mastery experiences. Specifically, participants will complete the following mastery experience tasks____). Be sure to include a hypothesis (such as: Enhancing at-risk students’ self-efficacy through the use of mastery experiences will result in increased graduation rates). Explain how the intervention would not only increase the aspect of positive psychology you are targeting but also explain how this would address the problem in the participants’ lives. This should include enough detail so that someone reading this project could actually carry out your intervention (think how-to manual!).
References: Your page should include a minimum of 8-10 citations of scholarly articles and a references section written in APA style. Unless there is a seminal article for your topic that you think must be included, please do your best to keep references as current as possible (e.g., 2000 – present). Try and limit your references to scholarly books and articles.
