Describe two examples of situations where your beliefs were challenged, one where you reacted in a more open-minded fashion, and one where you tended toward a more fortress-like response.

Please answer the following question with respect to the handout on Sexuality, Science, and the Bible (attached).

Prompt:
We probably all aspire to have the “Open to New Ideas” or at least the “Cafeteria Plan” approach when our beliefs are challenged, but let’s face it we all probably act more in keeping with the “Fortress” mentality from time-to-time. Describe two examples of situations where your beliefs were challenged, one where you reacted in a more open-minded fashion, and one where you tended toward a more fortress-like response. What differentiated the two situations? Was one topic a more sensitive one for you? Was it something about the way the challenge was presented? Did it make a difference who you were with? Or was it simply a matter of what sort of mood you were in that day? (Or maybe some combination of factors…)
