– Write a short essay (of approximately 600 words) that compares/contrasts the conceptualization, plans, and approach to sustainability of two cities (Detroit and Louisville). Even if cities nominally voice a similar definition of sustainability (and they do not always do this), the priorities stressed, the problems highlighted, the actions proposed, and the language within sustainability plans can be used as evidence to argue that cities have unique ways in which they conceptualize and plan for sustainability (see, for a refresher, pages 14-17 of chapter 1 in the textbook).
– Develop an opinion about how the two cities are similar and/or different, and you will need to amass, present, and cite evidence to support your opinion. You should also include at least FOUR other sources (7 in total including the 3 readings) of information to support your argument (at least two sources from each city) which could include other governmental sources, newspaper articles, etc.
– Write concisely, support opinions with evidence, and use in-text citation and APA citation.
