This week, you examined the structure of the network of information systems that support the modern delivery and reimbursement of healthcare. In doing so, you developed a mental model of these information systems and their relationships. This mental model consists of the information systems and their connections and relationships. See Figure 2 for an example.
In this assignment, you will capture this mental model by designing a concept map so you can use it to provide context as you navigate the remainder of this course. Some free drawing tools that will help you in your efforts include PowerPoint, Piktochart, Canva, and Venngage.
Prepare a concept map diagram, like the type shown above, depicting the major information systems used in healthcare. Ensure that each of the four major categories of system you investigated in the text is represented with two or more specific examples. For example, include EHRs as an example of clinical information systems. For each information system in your diagram, create at least one labeled line connecting it to another system to represent the types of information that flow between them.
In addition to your concept map, provide a summary introduction to your diagram and a 1-2 sentence description of each system-to-system connection.
You may base your concept map on other diagrams you identify in scholarly resources. If you do so, ensure that you integrate elements from at least two external diagrams to create a unique work of your own. Further, ensure that you properly cite the source figures in your summary introduction and references section.

Chapter 1 addresses the importance of Health Information Technology in the strategic outlook of healthcare organizations. Of particular note are the ways HIT integrates with the healthcare system in helping to address the challenges systems face today.
Chapter 2 reviews the environment and external pressures healthcare systems operate within. Understanding these challenges helps to better appreciate the use of HIT.
