Did the Compromise of 1877 really “end” Reconstruction as popular convention would hold it?

Begin by addressing the effects of the tie election of 1876 on Reconstruction. Did the Compromise of 1877 really “end” Reconstruction as popular convention would hold it? Why or why not? You should conclude by offering your explanation as to why Reconstruction ultimately failed or succeeded. This is a subjective response, but as long as you can produce factual and historiographical evidence, I will keep an open mind!
