FINAL OUTLINE: 9 ELEMENTS (Word document)

Your final outline must follow the alphanumeric formatting outlined in class, in the sample outline, and in your text book, and include these nine elements:

1. Speech Topic
2. Speech Title:
3. General Purpose Statement.
4. Specific Purpose Statement:
5. Central Idea Statement (Thesis):

6. Introduction:
– Outline the structure of your introduction, which should gain attention, reveal the topic, demonstrate credibility and good will, tell the audience why they should listen to the speech and preview the speech. Remember the Central Idea Statement should be the last part of your introduction but it is not the whole introduction.

7. Main Points:
– You should have three to four (3-4) main points with Roman Numerals by each (I. II. III. IV). Each point should be substantiated, and try to think where it might be appropriate to consider using ethos, pathos or logos. Your Main Points MUST follow the indented format outlined in your text and in class for Points, Sub-Points and Sub-Sub-Points, as relevant.

8. Conclusion:
– Should review the body of the speech, relate to the introduction, call for future action in regard to your topic, and give the speech a feeling of conclusion. Remember the Central Idea Statement should the first part of your conclusion but it is not the whole conclusion.

9. Bibliography of at least two published sources:
– Use a recognized bibliographic style (E.g. APA, MLA, Chicago or other)
