Goals
Thoroughly read the prompt for Essay #1: Digital Literacies included in this module. Did you understand the details of the essay assignment? Now we are going to start writing this essay over the next modules, one step at a time. This assignment is the first step.
After opening the prompt for Essay #1 and considering what piqued your interest while reading the articles in “Digital Literacy,” write
an Issue Question AND a working thesis statement/claim (an answer to your issue question, essentially) in preparation for writing Essay #1. See Carmen’s example on page 71.
Next, include at least 3 “because” statements. (Think of these as blue-prints for your topic sentences/body paragraph points for your essay!) Remember that your thesis and your supporting reasons will probably be altered somewhat during the writing process.
Your thesis and points will probably change and evolve over the next few weeks and this is a good sign!
Collaboration & Submission
In addition to being graded on the product you write, you will also receive points for your contribution to peer review, by reviewing the outlines of two peers in class. These peer reviews will be anonymous and automatically assigned by Canvas once you submit your assignment. Details are below.
