1) Select one (1) example of a Medieval art work *OR* one (1) example of a Renaissance artwork, *OR* one (1) example of a Baroque art work or architectural work to DISCUSS. The example you select MUST be arguably *exemplary* (see item #4, below; look this term up if you are unclear of the meaning) of either the Medieval, the Renaissance, or the Broque period in art history, and discuss what about the art example demonstrates that it is Medieval, Renaissance, or Baroque. Your selected art example should be representative of the period; discuss it with respect to specific tendencies of the Medieval or Renaissance or Baroque period style. (What is it about the art example that “tells” us it is “Medieval” or “Renaissance,” or “Baroque”?)

2) Identify the Title/name, Artist name, Date (AND time period/style/category), Medium & Support (Materials), Dimensions.
3) Use the INTRODUCTION of your Textbook as a guide for how to write about art works in your essay.
For example, identify how old it is, what culture it comes from, whether it is two-dimensional or three-dimensional, what it is made of, HOW it was made (do some research into the techniques or materials), what it was made for (if we know or have theories).
4) Use dictionaries, glossaries, encyclopedias – check what vocabulary words, terms, mean before you write about them.
5) Lastly, mention why you chose the artwork selected for discussion.
Use Essay Format: Begin with an Introduction paragraph, stating the purpose of your paper and identifying the example(s) you have selected, discuss art example(s) in the body of the essay, and write a Conclusion paragraph for the paper, followed by Works Cited.
