Discuss about African Slavery in the US and how it came to define US history for over 50 years.Why did it? Indeed, the entire nation became engulfed, obsessed with the issue of human bondage, why? Once becoming permanent, slavery completely defined the white Southern way of life, explain. Even many Northern whites became obsessed with slavery, such as the Abolitionists, why? Finally, in 1831, in Virginia, a slave named Nat Turner, rebelled against the cruelty, barbarism, oppression of slavery, why? To me as an historian, Nat Turner’s rebellion is one of the most crucial events prior to the civil war, as it speaks volumes about slavery and how African Americans really viewed their oppression.
