Ideas to formulate the briefing paper:
What are you doing about it as a nurse? i.e implement day programs to learn about coping skill i.e relaxation therapy so that they can be weaned off and have other coping skills in place.
Employment and working conditions, does the employment aggravate the injury. manual labours are more incline to abuse opioids due to back injury. Back injury never goes away but what do you do to help them with the pain? Alternatives to opioids to prevent addiction.
Based on what I have observed, blue collar “wealthy ” workers with physical demanding well paying jobs. Why are they chronic opioid users? What do you do to help these people cope with chronic pain? What is the alternative? i.e counselling, mindfulness, stretching, meditation.
