Keep in mind that you could achieve several of these bullet points at once (i.e. you don’t need to begin with a sentence that captures your readers attention, then proceed to a sentence that shows you are qualified to write on the topic, then proceed to a sentence that establishes common ground, etc. This would be a fine place to begin, but let’s build on that as we draft.)
