2) Choose two of the Literary/Classical Prophets in the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) that have been covered in class this semester (Important Note: this refers to the prophets who have books written in their name, not simply biblical figures who might be considered to be prophets and/or prophetic. See the list, “Latter Prophets”, including the subunit “The Twelve”, in slide 10 in the Introduction Slides posted on Moodle). Compare and contrast their distinctive, yet complementary views. Include in your answer, among other details, their similar and/or differing rhetorical methods (use of language, imagery, metaphors, etc.), theological messages, time of their messages (i.e., pre-exilic, exilic, post-exilic or a combination) and the backgrounds and social situations of the prophets and their audience(s) (i.e. where the prophets were from, to whom they were speaking, etc.) Include in your answer specific examples from the course materials allowed for this final exam that are listed in the above instructions, relevant passages from the Bible and important ancient Near Eastern (ANE) texts and/or traditions when relevant.

3) Explain the nature, primary themes, characters, messages, language and worldviews of the book of Proverbs and the book of Job. Compare and contrast their distinctive, yet complementary views of God, wisdom tradition, theology, reward and punishment, suffering, theodicy, etc. Include a very brief reflection regarding their unique and complimentary contributions to the overall biblical canon.
