ELA State Standards Review: Part 1: Obtain a copy of your state standards of ELA/Reading. Discuss the key features of the standards. How are they divided up? How do they build on one another? What are the different areas and how do they relate: speaking, listening, etc.? Part 2: How are data assessed within your school on student mastery of the standards? Discuss and describe what type of assessment is used. How often are students assessed? How and how often are data reviewed and discussed among faculty and staff? How are data used to drive instruction? Review and analyze data for your school. Include summative and formative assessments. Reflect upon these processes. As the educational leader, what changes would you make to improve the system?
