For the final paper you
will chose one of the issues presented and discussed in class (other
than your own issue) during the last half of the semester about which
you still have unanswered questions. (The issues are Soil and
Agriculture, Freshwater and Marine Resources, Biodiversity and Invasive
Species, Solid Waste and Air Pollution, Energy Challenges and Climate
Change.
1) State your question(s) and explain why it is worthwhile to find an answer to the question(s). (i.e. How would the answer contribute to solving an environmental problem?)
2) Find a recent (published after Dec 31, 2018), peer-reviewed,
original research paper (not a review paper or editorial) that relates
to your question(s).
3) Summarize the objectives, methods, and results.
4) Describe the conclusions and explain how the results support the conclusions of the paper.
4) Discuss any weaknesses of the research that the authors considered
in their discussion/conclusions. Are there any weaknesses that should
have been addressed but were not?
5) Explain how the information gained from this research helps to
answer your question, and discuss how the knowledge gained from the
research can be applied to solving an environmental problem .
