Several short quotes from the text will make your responses more effective and garner higher grades. These prompts are designed to cause students to think critically about and reflect upon the readings and to examine the texts closely. Reading the posts of other students is one of the best ways to increase your learning. For full credit, students must respond to at least one other student’s post in a respectful, academic manner. Discuss Christopher Columbus’s beliefs about the native people he encountered on the island. How did his perception of them affect his treatment of them?
