Assignment:

1. Read one of the specific texts listed below for the following fairy tales:

2. View the Disney film that corresponds to the fairy tale that you’ve selected. Please note — for Beauty and the Beast you can choose between the 2017 “human” version and the 1991 animated one; the same goes for Cinderella’s 2015 “human” version and 1950 animated film.

Paper development and formatting:

The paper should be formatted according to MLA guidelines (Links to an external site.).The paper should be double-spaced.The paper’s analysis should be developed to at least 800 words.

3. Compose an analytic paper that compares and contrasts the Disney version with the version of the tale that you read. This comparison paper should have an analytical purpose in its thesis that will provide the paper with a solid analytical framework.

You do not have to focus on every specific alteration between text and film.Ideally you will be working along the lines of examining what message(s) the film promotes for its audience in comparison to or in contrast with the older version of the tale.Do add your own opinions about whether or not you feel that the message(s) the film promotes are healthy ones for an audience of today’s children.
