This is feedback from my instructor from the first essay I submitted. “Great start. I think the main focus of the writing should be in creating understanding for the reader. As one of my comments notes: show, don’t tell. We, as readers, need examples and explanations to understand that with which we’re unfamiliar.” Attached is my first essay that I submitted, and the rhetoric for the second and third essay. This order will be for essay two only, however I may return for essay three with the same rhetoric.
These are the instructions from the instructor to essay one just incase you need it. “Basically, your task is to demonstrate an understanding of the ideas in the readings as they relate to a topic of your choice. For instance, in “The Work of Art…,” Walter Benjamin claims that we’ve become so alienated from ourselves (through technology and a lack of understanding) that we will come to see our own destruction as something beautiful. The idea here is that our pursuit of money/power/control/prestige/etc. blinds us to the way that technology changes our experiences. If my topic is, say, Education, then I might discuss how a focus on using technology in the classroom, when the reasoning for its inclusion comes from the technology itself, might work against the education of people and inadvertently increase their submission to a mechanized system. So, while we play with SmartBoards and iPads in class, we think we’re a part of progress when, actually, we are submitting to a mechanized world built for profit instead of betterment. That would be my thesis and then I would go about finding additional sources to support my argument.”
If there is anything else that is required to help complete the order I am sure that I have that also. Thank you in advance.
