The assignment for your final paper will be to select an aspect of telehealth (e.g. provision of medical services to remote areas, remote robot assisted examination/surgery, downloading data remotely from apparatus that monitors patient’s vital signs or movement etc.) and discuss how it could be integrated as a program into the health information technology system of a healthcare organization.
The paper should be no longer than 5 pages. Therefore, you should focus on major issues for implementing this new system into HIT. You may choose the type of healthcare organization in which you would integrate the program. Please provide 1-2 paragraphs as an introduction as to why you chose your particular telehealth topic and cite literature regarding its need. The body of the paper should describe the telehealth topic in more detail and provide an explanation as to why and how this telehealth program could be integrated into the HIT system of a healthcare organization. A one paragraph conclusion should include strengths and weaknesses of the program as you described it. The paper should use APA style for citations and references.
