Final Paper Instructions Due prior to 25 December 2021@7pm EST

In order to demonstrate your understating
of Critical Thinking within Homeland Security answer and or follow the body
content guidance requested in order generate an 8 – 10 pages in length paper,
using APA 7th style ( references against citations will be validated via
Turnitin.com).

The paper should be double
spaced and 12 Times Roman font. A minimum of 6 creditable sources are to be
cited within the body. Paraphrasing is highly encouraged yet it must be unique
and not include any direct wording for its source, in addition proper credit
must follow each comment. Quality over quantity regarding the creditable
information in this paper is the standard.

Body content guidance:

1. Construct what you believe
to be the “best” critical thinking model that could be used in a Homeland Security
incident. Discuss how this critical thinking model could be used in
support of homeland security.

2. Find and detail in the
writing extensively 1 United States historical event (excluding the 9/11
attacks and Pearl Harbor) that might have been prevented or mitigated by
answering each line within the Critical Thinking model chosen to use. The event
can be a domestic incidence or international event.

The event should be something
that occurred in the past 20 years and may relate to international or domestic
security. Also reference any fallacies of logic you found (including poor
statistics) that influenced decisions (or non-actions) regarding this event.

The course text book, Asking the Right Questions, suggests that the right questions are:

1) “What are the issues and the conclusions?
2) What are the reasons?
3) Which words or phrases are ambiguous?
4) What are the value and descriptive assumptions?
5) Are there any fallacies in the reasoning?
6) How good is the evidence?
7) Are there rival causes?
8) Are the statistics deceptive?
9) What significant information is omitted?
10) What reasonable conclusions are possible?”
(Browne and Keeley, 2012, p.9)
Note:
These questions are not listed in 11th edition (2015) but are the titles of
chapters 3 to 13.

The paper content will evaluated on the below criteria:
1.
The critical thinking model is especially well chosen and demonstrated mastery
of Homeland security strategies, tactics and concepts are found to be easily
identified within the paper.
2.
Thorough research of 1 United States event is examined and stated properly from
multiple sources as applicable.
3.
Thoroughly evaluates the research data for validity and reliability of
source/content and applicability to the event.
4.
Uses critical analysis and reasoning based on logic and best practices to select
methods.
5.
Writing demonstrates a sophisticated clarity, conciseness, and correctness with
good grammar and usage.
6.
Uses APA 7th style format accurately and consistently in addition
all evidence is paraphrased and adequately cited.
