Discuss (in details) two reasons why modern societies need less laws.

Law is everywhere and is believed to be everything. In fact, some believe that law makes social life possible; they say that law makes society possible. Without law they say, social life will be brutish, chaotic, and short; social life will be impossible without law. So, modern societies need law and cannot survive without them. The more law, the better.
Others believe that law is merely an instrument of the powerful members of society. Law they say, is oriented toward the preservation of the status quo because law legitimizes domination of the have-nots by the haves. Law they say, facilitates the exploitation of the many by the few. The less law there are, the better society will be.
