Discuss safety and security improvements made at the World Trade Center.

Discuss safety and security
improvements made at the World Trade Center (WTC) in the aftermath of
1993 TRADEBOMB and specify how they enabled to save lives and allow for
better coordination and communication during the crisis response to 9/11
WTC attacks. Then, address the issues that (a) persisted during the
response, (b) were only partially resolved, or (c) were ignored
altogether. Explain how those issues (a, b, c) contributed to
complicating the response and leading to the largest loss of life of
firefighters in one day in the world (Fire Department of New York) and
the largest loss of police in one day in the world (Port Authority, New
Jersey, and New York PDs). Then, based on the 9/11 Report (Kean at al.,
2004) explain what were the specific reasons behind differences in
response between New York and Pentagon attacks.

Readings:
1. In Kean et al. please read Chapter 9 “Herroism and Horror” and Chapter 12 “What to Do: A Global Strategy” (pp. 383-398 specifically)
