Discuss the Case Study Using The Eight Steps for Ethical Decision Making

Karlo, a licensed professional clinical counselor, was sought out by Chandler, a 26-year-old woman who identified as lesbian and is a devout Catholic. Chandler heard Karlo speak at a continuing education class on multiple identities and believes he will be understanding of her situation. Chandler appreciated that Karlo is an advocate for the LGBTQ community as well as someone who spoke about “respecting the religious beliefs of all of his clients.”
During their first session, Chandler shares with Karlo the reasons she chose him as her counselor. She also discloses that she wants his help in living as a heterosexual woman. Chandler feels she cannot be a “good Catholic” if she continues to “live in sin” as a lesbian. She knew Karlo did not believe a person chooses his or her identity, but she felt that he would respect her belief system.
