Music of Mozart VS. Beethoven
(Links to an external site.)
The fact is that both composers have a lot of things in common as you listen to their music.
Both lived around classical music period (although not exactly the same time era).
Facts:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791)
Ludwig van Beethoven (baptised 17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827)
They lived around the same time and met once in person. But why are their music different as you listen to their music?
Another fact:
Mozart was a composer during the musical period of “Classical Period”, whereas Beethoven was a composer during the musical period of “Classical Period” and “Romantic Period”, also known as a transitional period where we would also categorize Beethoven as a transitional composer.
Assignment: Discuss the differences of the following criteria between the two composers.
1. The musical eras in which both composers or one composer was active
2. The style of music each or both composers pursued. Styles can be up to your personal discretion, such as, a level of intensity, different forms of music used by composers, and so on.
3. Your emotional outcome BEFORE, DURING and AFTER you listen to Mozart and Beethoven. For example, the status of your feeling and emotion and expectation of what music will be like before you hear the music, and the content of your emotion as you listen to the music and the final (possibly changed) emotion of your own after the piece of music is heard and finished.
4. With what musical elements can we distinguish music of Mozart with music of Beethoven? Please describe and explain.
5. Extra points for this: Write an extra page of your own thoughts, analysis and other differences which are not mentioned in this assignment.
