Section headings can be used to help indicate planned and current organization of content. Writing does not have to be complete – some bullet points are ok in paragraph budies, but transitions, topic and summary sentences should be edited appropriately.
Some indications that you’re on the right track
1) You have two citations or more in each paragraph (besides intro and conclusion, which typically have none)
2) You have at least 3 sections in mind – themes – that could almost in themselves be good 5 page papers
3) Sources include both primary and scholarly.
4) Be aware of whether it feels like you are advocating for something – this is not an advocacy paper but a research paper. If you’re trying to convince your reader to do something or believe something, the tone is probably not objective enough.
