Essay 1
Discuss the elements of Gothic fiction found in “A Rose for Emily” and/or “Fall of the House of Usher.” You may need to do some secondary research on the Gothic tradition in writing. Material discussing these elements of gothic fiction can be found in the module. These elements can be found in the characters, settings, plots, and themes, etc. of the short story.
You may set the essay up in any manner you choose as long as you follow MLA format. The essay should utilize the primary source(s) and those sources should be quoted and cited in the body of the essay (See the MLA2016 Powerpoint slides for correct citing of your textbook (A Work in an Anthology) and on the Works Cited. You may use up to two secondary sources. If you use secondary sources, they must be cited correctly.
Word Count – 900 words (Works Cited does not count in this total).
