The analysis should be an application of the major concepts discussed in the course. The goal of the paper is to analyze a relationship and provide insight to the communication process. The following questions should be helpful in guiding the students in their analysis:
1. Identify the stages of relationship development that the characters experience. Explain specific communication behaviors exhibited by the characters that are representative of these stages.
2. Discuss the factors involved in binding these characters together. Explain the needs that are being satisfied in the relationship to make the relationship worthwhile.

4. Identify conflict between the characters. Identify the conflict as destructive or constructive. Identify the specific communication patterns that lead to conflict.
Structure & Mechanics of Writing: The paper needs to include an introduction, thesis statement, preview, main points, supporting evidence, review, and conclusion. The paper should be free of spelling and punctuation errors. Students should use APA or MLA style appropriately (you may select which style you prefer). The writing should address an academic audience.
Purpose and Supporting Material: The paper should include logic, evidence, and reasoning to support the thesis. The support material should include material covered in class and incorporate outside research. In addition to using the course material as one source, the paper should incorporate two sources for a total of three sources. In addition, students should explain the relationships between the communication terms and examples. In other words, explain why and how the characters act in ways that exemplify a communication term. The student should point to specific dialogue, gestures, etc. that provide evidence of a communication term. Go beyond summarizing a play or movie and really engage with the communication.
