Discuss the factors that contributed to the Progressive Movement.

1) Discuss the impact of Reconstruction on the South. What were the goals of Reconstruction, and how was it implemented? What were the major issues involved in Reconstruction and how did Johnson and the Republican Congress address those issues? How did life in the South change during Reconstruction? What were the outcomes of the Reconstruction Period? Did Reconstruction ultimately fail? Defend your position. Could Reconstruction have been carried out more successfully? Expand. How?
2). Discuss the factors that contributed to the Progressive Movement. What problems had arisen in during the post-Civil War industrial age? Examine major areas of Progressive reform efforts and specific legislation enacted in each area. Address the three ‘progressive’ presidents and the views and contributions of each. What were the greatest successes of the Progressive Movement? What were its greatest failures? How did Progressivism change the United States?
3). Discuss the implementation of the New Deal during the Great Depression. What were the main causes of the Great Depression? How did FDR’s New Deal seek to solve or alleviate them? Include a discussion of the New Deal with respect to the goals of reform, recovery and relief. You will want to discuss specific programs and their outcomes as well as conclude with an analysis of the New Deal as a whole. What do you think were the major effects of the New deal?
