Discuss the Relationships Between Women and Female Heroism. In Oroonoko, the female narrator seems powerless to help
Imoinda (or Oroonoko, for that matter); CTHD is filled with women at cross
purposes; in “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the narrator seems entirely abandoned by
other women who may view her as odd or abnormal; in “So Long a Letter,” on the
other hand, the narrator uses her friendship with Aissatou to analyze her own
situation; finally, Cool Hand Luke is virtually female free (don’t forget
Luke’s mother)! Explain the
relationships between women–what do their friendships (or lack of friendships)
suggest to you about female heroism? Discuss any two characters from any
two works.
