Choose from one of the following questions (state which questions you are answering in your post title):
Question 1:
Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) is a pesticide that was used in the battle to fight malaria. It was effective in killing the vector for malaria, the Anopheles mosquito. However, it’s ability to bioaccumulate in the environment and its inability to degrade quickly caused environmental concerns and its use was discontinued in 1972 in the U.S. The U.S. is currently now free from endemic malaria which is thought to be in part due to the DDT campaign, however many other countries still suffer from this devastating disease. Should DDT be used in these countries to control malaria? Weigh the environmental impact with the impact the pesticide would have on disease transmission. Support your opinion with academic sources.
