purpose and tone. They form part of the totality of the message to be interpreted.

Former Nominated Member of Parliament Kuik Shiao-Yin draws life lessons for the audience,
from her personal journey to becoming a social entrepreneur.

Question 1 – First, listen to the whole speech and do the following:
(a) Identify the speech type, e.g. informative, persuasive, polemical, ceremonial, etc.
Explain your reasoning, supported with relevant examples.
