One of the most commonly used forms of assessment in early childhood education is observation. Observations allow you to get to know your students, understand their needs, and develop a plan for helping them to continue to grow. To learn more about observations, watch the video Observing Young Children and read the article Taking It All In: Observation in the Classroom. Then develop a presentation that includes the following information:
Please label topic slides A-E:
Discuss why observations are a developmentally appropriate form of assessment for young children
Summarize the difference between spontaneous and planned observations. Include how both are beneficial to a comprehensive assessment plan.
Explain how you can make sure the observations you conduct are meaningful
Describe how you can build observations into your daily routine
Explain how you would use the information gather through observation to support the needs of young children
Your Week Two Assignment – Observation Presentation should be 8 to 10 content slides in length PLUS the ADDITIONAL title slide, references slide. Be sure to proofread and use APA format. Support the ideas in your presentation with at least TWO references (BESIDES course text and course content).
