Discuss with the class the data that you see on a regular basis in your workplace that indicates room for improvement. This could be NDNQI data, compliance with Core Measures, fall rates, infection rates, readmission rates, the list is endless! Identification of this data is going to help shape your quality improvement project. Come up with as many areas as you can that have room for improvement- next week, you will talk with a Nurse Leader or other key stakeholder in your organization to narrow down your focus and select one that you will choose for your QI project. This week, identify this data and briefly discuss the importance of addressing that data in regards to enhancing patient outcomes.
