Overview
In your previous reflections, you have focused on your instructor feedback from the previous essay. Now you will think beyond just the essay, and begin to reflect on yourself as a student and on the growth you have made so far in your writing classes. When you are in the midst of homework, readings, and essay assignments, it can be hard for you to notice the great strides you are making. It is so important for you to see those strides!
In this assignment you will reflect on your instructor feedback and growth.
You should spend approximately 1 hour on this assignment.
Think: Review the feedback on your essays and your grades in both ENG 121 and CCR 094. Review your previous My Journal: Feedback Reflection assignments.
Write: Write three paragraphs reflecting on your progress so far this semester:
Paragraph 1: Where have I been? Discuss your strengths and weaknesses so far this semester, both as a student and as a writer. What progress do you see?
Paragraph 2: Where am I now? Discuss your goals for both classes, and compare those goals to your current progress.
Paragraph 3: Where am I going? Discuss your plan for the rest of the semester. Explain what you need to keep doing well and what you may need to do or change in order to meet your goals in both classes. Be specific here; go beyond briefly generic comments such as “I need to work harder” or “I intend to plan my time better.” Explain exactly what you will do from now on.
Each paragraph should be 4-6 sentences long, and each paragraph should be well developed. Each paragraph should have a focused topic sentence, and the additional sentences in the paragraph should support that topic sentence.
Be sure to use MLA Style to format this assignment. Apply MLA Style to all aspects of the paper, including a heading, title, proper paragraph indentation and spacing, font, margins, size, etc. Need help with MLA? Please refer to the CCCOnline MLA Citation Toolkit
