Discussing of African culture in general

I will be discussing of African culture in general, we have many countries as continent I will be trying to discuss the common culture that we hold as continent, I will be searching clothes and food, dances and I will also include the people’s language, dressing, music, work, arts, religion and dancing as well. It also goes on to include a people’s social norms, taboos and values. Values here are to be understood as beliefs that are held about what is right and wrong and what is important in life.

term Presentation Criteria
ASSIGNMENT: You may choose to work in groups up to 3. Each person must submit their own file and all
names must be listed on the first page.
You will get to create a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation for your staff at the local hospital. You will
want to discuss cultures and communication and how to improve this among the staff and patients. Use
text and graphics to create a presentation that would benefit the staff and patients on these issues.
Some of the questions that you might answer would be the following:
 What would the staff need to be aware of when it comes to communication and cultures?
 How would you explain the values and beliefs?
 What warning signs might you see if someone is in trouble from a cult, human trafficking or an
abusive situation?
 How would you handle a patient that refuses a type of treatment or medication based on their
culture?
This presentation should be at least 15 slides in PowerPoint and should have your references written in
APA at the bottom of each slide in a footer. Be sure to cite in APA. If you simply put a website, you will
lose points. This is the midterm so APA should be something you are used to by now. Be creative and
have fun! Perhaps, this is something you might even find a use for one day! Empower your staff and
coworkers!
 You will create a 10-15 slide PowerPoint presentation on culture –your culture. (The “slide
count” does NOT include a “title page” or a “thank you” or “the end” slide at the end).
 We all live in the United States now, but we all come from somewhere. What are some of the
cultural practices that make you and your family unique?
 Religion, food, recreation, language, family events, traditions, holidays (material and non-
material culture) …
 As we discussed in class, culture is learned, intergenerational, shared and always changing.
 What are some of the “material” and “non-material” objects in your culture? What are the signs
and symbols you use?
 You will present your culture presentation to the class.
 You will need to upload the presentation for a grade.
 The presentations MUST be in a PowerPoint or Prezi format that I am able to open on the
classroom computer.
